Snowfall in Madison, WI as of December 6th, 2007: 6 inches of snow followed by a one inch ice layer followed by another 6 inch snowfall. This makes for interesting walking. Either you sink into 6 inches of snow and slide on the ice, or you sink into 6 inches of snow, crack through the ice and lurch forward as you drop another 6 inches. This photograph was taken only 5 steps from my back porch. Maybe you can understand why I chose to go no further than 5 feet for a photo. On the positive side, I only fell once.

Ah, winter. I celebrate your return.

You really need to be careful with freezing rain!

I’m envious! Looks like you have all the snow. Here, the ground (in the valley) is bare now.

fotokew and montucky ~ thanks, no dearth of snow here and predicted 4 of the next 6 days.
mon@arch ~ I hate ice. A few years ago fell and broke ankle in SEVEN places. I have a bionic ankle. Still hurts!

It seems like you get the full brunt of the snow storms and we get what is left over. Maybe one of these days there will be a lot left over. I like the way you take photos of ordinary things in a way that is interesting.

Thanks, and I am VERY careful walking (slipping) on ice.
