Robin in the Berries

Reaching for the Berries

My first robin sighting of the new spring!

Early this morning, I went searching for Spring at the Olbrich Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin - after yesterday’s 8 inch snowfall hid all hints of the new season. As I hiked through the gardens, leaving the first footprints of the day, I heard the sweet sounds of a bird chirping. My first robin.

And a very happy robin, aperch in a tree thick with berries.

ps. We’re at 99.6 inches of snow for the season - our old total snowfall record was 74 inches. Don’t you think we should have one more blast to reach the century mark? Well, if predictions for tomorrow are correct. . .

Ashley of the Dickie-Ashley Building

This is only half of the Dickie-Ashley Building on the Square in Baraboo, Wisconsin, built in 1916. The other half bears the name Dickie.
