Internet Cafe?

This is hard to believe. At least, it’s hard for me to believe.

For those hardcore keep-up-with-the-news people, the harried and reluctant businessman on a family vacation, or just for a foreign traveler checking with family - a handy-dandy internet cafe? Just grab a few minutes of frenetic connecting and keyboarding and then go visit the rain forest?

Out in the middle of nowhere.
And I really mean nowhere.

Is this a new phenomenon? What is going on here?

  1. Nice touch with the thatched roof cafe. Seems a bit outdoorsee.

  2. I guess if you have to take your work with you, this would not be a bad place to be doing it. ;)

  5. So true. When I was in Peru a few years ago, the urchins begging in the streets would then take their earnings and go into internet cafes and surf the web, talk to their peers, and play games.

Wow. I wonder what the impact will be on the globalization of culture–surely far greater than that of even the television.

I enjoy your photos! Thanks for posting them.
