Ice in Abstraction

Ice in Abstraction

“Adversity draws men together and produces beauty and harmony in life’s relationships, just as the cold of winter produces ice-flowers… which vanish with the warmth.” ~ Soren Kierkegaard (Danish philosopher, 1813-1855)

Ice abstract taken in a Madison gutter. Not the finest of settings, but beauty is beauty wherever it is discovered. Temperature at 7:35 am was a reasonable, seasonable 22˚F.

Photographed in the city of Madison, Wisconsin on November 18, 2007 at the corner of High Point Road and Snow Frost Lane. The street’s name is fitting. Of course, the sub-division is on property that was designated for the National Ice Age Trail, but the proposed purchase was not funded and a developer happened to have money in his pocket first. Money prevails.

  1. Hey I like your new template. Haven’t visited in a few days. This is great.

The ice photo is beautiful. I love looking for beauty in ordinary things that most people don’t notice.

  2. That’s really cool. I’ve been working on finding patterns lately, although I haven’t posted many, and this would fit right in.
